All societies across the world suffer from many serious evils. Among the most prominent and widespread menaces is smoking which has invaded all age groups and cultural and economic levels. Smoking still defies any strict laws that would protect people from its deadly damage. Statistics record that tobacco kills more than 8 million people annually worldwide. Because of the importance of tackling this issue, and under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Sciences and Humanities in Hotat Bani Tamim, Dr. Hessa bint Saud Al-Hazzani, the University’s Anti-Smoking Committee, in cooperation with the General Directorate for Drug Control, organized an educational corner entitled: “A Society without Smoking” under the supervision of Prof. Reem Al-Hadeef on Thursday 3/3/1444 H at 9:30 a.m. in the College yard. The aim of this corner was to educate community members, including female and male university students, about the harms and dangers of smoking, through an educational corner, a presentation and handouts introducing smoking, its harms and the diseases it causes.
