Arabic calligraphy is a means of transferring a person from his ability to feel physical beauty to the ability to spiritually sense that beauty itself. Further, it is a means of expressing language through the symbols of the Arabic language. Stemming from a belief in the importance of such an art, the Committee for Developing Professional Skills of the Alumni Unit has held a training session entitled (introducing Arabic Calligraphy). The session was supervised by Dr Naha Al Qahatani, presented by Dr. Amani Ahmad, and sponsored by the ccollege dean Dr. Hessa bint Saud Al Hazzani. It was held on Wednesday, 26/10/2022 at 11:30 a.m.
The course explained the emergence of Arabic fonts, their development stages, and their importance, which lies in the fact that Arabic calligraphy is a pillar of the language and a supporter of civilization in Arab countries. Additionally, the session introduced the types of fonts such as Naskh, Raq`ah, Thuluth, Kufic and Diwani scripts, their styles, and tools used in writing, with illustrations of each font and the way it is written.
